sense of smell. Known for their long and low bodies, they are one of
the most popular dog breeds. The name dachshund is of German origin
and literally means badger dog, from Dachs badger and Hund dog.
First bred in the early 1600s in Germany, the breed became popular in
the U.S. during the early 1900s. They are loveable, playful
companions, and an ideal pet for many homes!
